Elizabeth Ann O’Boyle and John Michael Gavin III were married July 8 at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in New York. The Rev. Kenneth Gavin, a Roman Catholic priest and a second cousin of the groom, performed the ceremony.
Mrs. Gavin, 27, is a speech-language pathologist at the Reece School in Manhattan. She graduated from George Washington University and received a master’s degree in communication sciences from Hunter College.
She is a daughter of Laverne O’Boyle and Kevin O’Boyle of Oradell, N.J. The bride’s father, who is retired, was a detective in the Hackensack Police Department in New Jersey. Her mother is the principal at Memorial School, an elementary school in Paramus, N.J.
Mr. Gavin, 28, is the director of West Coast sales at Empirical Research Partners, a portfolio strategy and quantitative research firm in Manhattan. He graduated from Bucknell University.
He is the son of Susan Gavin and Mr. Gavin Jr. of Brooklyn. The groom’s father retired as the chief financial officer at BNY Mellon Capital Markets in Manhattan.
The couple met in September 2012 at Yankee Stadium, and got to know each other better at a game that lasted nearly six hours.
